Glasgow based Performance Spares have announced they will be running a car in the Celtic Speed Scottish Mini Cooper Cup this year and Malcolm has been enlisted for pre-season driver coaching with their newcomers contender Graeme Henderson.
Malcolm and Graeme have done some track work together previously with good results and with over 10 years experience as a ski instructor and race coach, Malcolm is well versed in performance analysis and feedback.
Chilly day at Knockhill Circuit, but then it is only mid February! Today we had the first shake down of Team Sleigh Racing’s 2013 cars and Performance Spares were testing their new race car also.
Malcolm was up doing some driver coaching with Performance Spares’ Graeme Henderson as he took in his first laps in the new car. As the day progressed the cobwebs blew off and his pace came on, he’s looking forward to the next session on March 9th.

With the fantastic news, the Scottish Mini Cooper Cup will be returning to Oulton Park in 2013, we thought we’d show you a hot lap from testing last year [with some of Malc’s over steer antics included of course!]
Oulton Park is a fantastic circuit, similar in some ways to Knockhill with the changes in gradient only a lot longer and a fair bit faster. With corners including Island Bend, the Shell Oils Hairpin and Druids, you have some of the most eclectic bends in British motorsport!
Xtreme Karting Edinburgh are delighted to be involved and help with the charity event in memory of David Ball, raising money for CHAS and Maggies.
Diary dates for the qualifying races on the 4th, 5th March with the final on the 7th March! Should be great week with lots of money being raised.
Below is the schedule for the 4th and 5th March 2013:
• Team Endurance Format
• 12 teams with 6 in each team
• 6.15pm arrival (6.30pm latest) finish approximately 10.00pm
• Qualifying session for pole position
• 2hrs Non-Stop racing
• Top 6 teams with the most laps will qualify for the Final on the 7th March
Grand Final on the 7th March:
• Team Endurance Format
• 6 teams from both 4th and 5th March (12 in total)
• 6.00pm arrival (6.15pm latest) finish approximately 10.00pm
• Qualifying Session for Pole Position
• 2hrs Non-Stop Racing
• Top 3 teams on the podium receiving their trophies!!
To race in the qualifying round will cost £40 / driver for the Qualifying rounds, and £25 for the Final race event.
