Interesting there is a redundant bracket and threaded fitting for a handbrake cable on the passenger side, presumably this is for LHD markets.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/mcnab-racing.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/img_8259.jpg\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1216\" width=\"1000\" height=\"750\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mcnab-racing.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/img_8259.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/mcnab-racing.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/img_8259-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/mcnab-racing.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/img_8259-768x576.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><br \/>\nNot a lot of clearance around the oil filter and pump.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/mcnab-racing.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/img_8260.jpg\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1217\" width=\"1000\" height=\"750\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mcnab-racing.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/img_8260.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/mcnab-racing.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/img_8260-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/mcnab-racing.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/img_8260-768x576.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><br \/>\nThe starter motor and bell housing are actually in between the chassis tubes.<\/p>\n<p>As well as the tight fit, there are some other foibles of note.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/mcnab-racing.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/img_8261.jpg\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1218\" width=\"1000\" height=\"750\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mcnab-racing.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/img_8261.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/mcnab-racing.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/img_8261-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/mcnab-racing.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/img_8261-768x576.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/>Don&#8217;t know why this section is so corroded compared to the rest of the chassis. These are the threaded bosses which the screws on the top of the transmission tunnel \/ bottom of the fascia panel thread in to.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/mcnab-racing.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/img_8262.jpg\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1219\" width=\"1000\" height=\"750\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mcnab-racing.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/img_8262.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/mcnab-racing.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/img_8262-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/mcnab-racing.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/img_8262-768x576.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/>This is not a standard gearbox mount as far as I can tell. A section of solid bar has been welded on to the lower rails, slotted to allow the handbrake cable to pass through, and threaded to accept a rudimentary rubber mount.<\/p>\n<p>All of this would be because our car isn&#8217;t running a normal Elan spec 2000e Ford derived gearbox.
