{"id":981,"date":"2021-12-07T22:20:01","date_gmt":"2021-12-07T22:20:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mcnab-racing.co.uk\/?page_id=981"},"modified":"2021-12-07T22:42:14","modified_gmt":"2021-12-07T22:42:14","slug":"elan-restoration","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/mcnab-racing.co.uk\/?page_id=981","title":{"rendered":"Elan Restoration"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>With not a lot of time at the track through 2020 and 2021, I&#8217;ve finally got my head down a bit with working on restoring my father&#8217;s 1970 Lotus Elan S4.<\/p>\n<p>He bought the car in May 1990, with the previous owner having spent considerable money with Vegantune, modifying almost every aspect of the car.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/mcnab-racing.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/img_5847.jpg\" class=\"size-full wp-image-978\" width=\"800\" height=\"542\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mcnab-racing.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/img_5847.jpg 800w, https:\/\/mcnab-racing.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/img_5847-300x203.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Some parts of the car are extremely reminiscent of the Vegantune Evante, indeed my father believes certain parts were prototyped on this car. I&#8217;ve only found one other wearing the same body modifications, that one living in Canada.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s the only image I&#8217;ve seen of the car, when the owner found me on Pistonheads, prior to that point he also thought he had the only one in the world with this body configuration!<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/mcnab-racing.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/img_9722.jpg\" class=\"size-full wp-image-979\" width=\"829\" height=\"640\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mcnab-racing.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/img_9722.jpg 829w, https:\/\/mcnab-racing.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/img_9722-300x232.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 829px) 100vw, 829px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>As a top level overview, the car runs wider arches all round with a deeper front valance and a lip added to the boot. Wider wheels, 3 piece Compomotive split rims, have been fitted with pretty massive (proportionately) 205 width Pirelli tyres.
